- the high- and low-level design, network implementation, delivery and optimization of IP LAN nodes and networks of the data centres and offices of VF RO, VOIS RO, VF CZ which cover mainly but not only NFV LAN, Data Centre networks, Service and Management LAN and Office networks The high- and low-level design of standard (in-catalogue) connectivity requests for VF DE, VF UK, VOIS RO and VF RO and VF CZ (aka ‘Avengers’ pool).
Be accountable for all optimisation activities within IP LAN in these countries and be directly involved in all the performance analysis and improvements devised as necessary.
Responsible for developing and expanding the team’s technical skills and experience. Responsible to guarantee consistency and harmonisation across the group, promoting and delivering all possible best practise processes & cost savings initiatives.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Planning, design (high- and low-level design), capacity management, vendor management and life cycle management of the office LAN, data centre LAN, service LAN and management LAN of VF RO, VF CZ and VOIS RO, in line with guidelines provided by Central teams.
- Ownership and maintenance of the country IPLAN, local Data Centre and Office NW Low Level Design
o in line with Planning Design & Dimensioning guidelines and directives.
o adjusting the detail to its local applicability in the cluster countries
o guaranteeing the in-time implementation of connectivity requests from internal customers as per agreed SLAs.
- In-time implementation of connectivity requests from internal customers from VF DE, VF UK, VF RO, VF CZ and VOIS RO as per agreed SLAs. Devisal and introduction of technical and process improvements to expedite this connectivity implementation.
- Direct management of the interface with regional and local in-country operations teams
o Defining, planning, and scheduling all IP LAN network activities and interventions
o Being accountable for these activities and analysing/reporting relevant issues concerning risk, cost/benefit, effectiveness, and efficiency
o Mobilising and coordinating all required engineering efforts in case of emergencies related to IP LAN networks
- Management of the engineering team dealing with IP LAN networks in the cluster:
o Being accountable for all optimisation activities
o guaranteeing the required support to local initiatives
o engaging with relevant local stakeholders as needed
- Management of the IPED budget execution in the cluster and active promotion of benchmarking with other clusters of IPED unit, aligning with best applied practises and harmonising design whenever possible and issues in the specific countries of the cluster
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- Deep sensitivity to and experience with operational and execution challenges and issues coming from the countries constituting the cluster
- Capable of building a true end-2-end visibility and comprehension of Data Centre networks and issues in the specific countries of the cluster
- Strong people management and motivation skills. Able to build a team very focused on specific cluster issue`s and challenges, but also open and able to execute a regional strategy
- Strong stakeholders’ management and customer orientation
- Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results/change
- Results oriented.
- In-depth knowledge in the following areas:
- Networks (TCP/IP, Protocols, Structures, Hardware, Security
- Knowledge in the area of the installation and configuration of network components (Routers, Switches, VPN Gateways, Firewalls, Proxies, Load Balancers and others)
- Knowledge in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VOIP technology, WLAN technology, DHCP, DNS
- Knowledge in network management and network analysis
- Knowledge in security (policies, encryption, Authentication, Authorization, Accounting, 802.1x, PKI, certificates)
Key performance indicators:
- Delivery of evolution, capacity expansion and Life Cycle Management projects in the Office LAN, Service LAN, Management LAN and Data Centre LAN areas of VF RO and VOIS RO, as per committed budget and plan.
- Stability, performance and customer experience in the networks and nodes under scope.
- In-time implementation of connectivity requests from internal customers as per agreed SLAs.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- University degree, ideally a degree on Telecommunications or Computers Science
- Experience in project delivery.
- Experience as a people manager recommended.
- IP certification recommended (e.g. CCNA-CCNP-CCIE)
